Angela R. Marova MSW. RSW. CWC.
Angela Marova is the founder of Evolve Counselling and Assessment Services. She has over 15 years experience in the Mental Health field. She has employment experience as a Clinical Lead for a Canadian hospital where she completed Mental Health Assessments, developed treatment plans, made recommendations for psychotherapy, and supervised Psychotherapists. Angela’s international work experience includes assisting people exhibiting symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of sexual assault, car hijacking, and other presenting concerns.
She uses a client centred approach and varying counselling modalities depending on client presenting concerns. She has also worked as a Program Coordinator responsible for supervising a team of Settlement Counsellors through the Afghan Initiative program in Toronto. She is experienced in providing culturally sensitive trauma counselling for Afghan refugees and first responders. Her counselling modalities include CBT-p, WF-CBT, Solution focused therapy and ACT. Angela completed a MSW from York University and she is registered to practice in Ontario.
Her journey in mental health started at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa where she completed a Psychology Honours degree and received clinical training through her first year in Masters in Clinical Psychology training. She immigrated to Canada and trained in Career and Work Counselling at George Brown College, in order to bridge the knowledge gap needed to ethically run a boutique employment agency. She worked for Employment Ontario funded Organizations as an Employment Consultant and also worked in a tertiary institution as an Employer Liaison.
Angela developed and provided corporate training in Mental Health in the workplace in a previous role and currently provides Mental health in the Workplace training for staff and Management teams. Angela has extensive experience in coaching senior level and entry level employees with mental health disabilities and addictions manage their triggers and cope within various work settings.
During her spare time she enjoys volunteering within various communities. Angela founded and managed a Food Drive for Rural Zimbabwe from 2016 to 2017 during a drought in Zimbabwe. The food drive provided food security for seniors and children for the duration of the drought, and during the pull out phase food drive recipients received assistance in starting and running chicken projects for income generating purposes. At home Angela participates in fundraising running events such as the United Way Rat Race, Pearson Airport Runway Run, Erica’s Wish, CIBC Run for the Cure, and the Oakville Nutrience Half Marathon. and she contributes towards various Food banks. She is an active participant in various Food banks and food security fundraising events.
